Our History

Ozone Park Neighborhood Advocates Inc. was established by local community leaders and IT professionals to bridge the digital and bureaucratic divide in Queens. Recognizing that many residents struggle to navigate legacy municipal portals, OPNA was formed to modernize how our neighbors access city, state, and federal services. By applying enterprise-level technical efficiency to local civic issues, we transitioned from grassroots organizing into a registered 501(c)(3) to scale our impact and establish a permanent advocacy infrastructure for Ozone Park.

Organizational Achievements

Since our inception, OPNA has focused on measurable, data-driven civic impact. Our core organizational achievements include:

• Benefits Navigation Pipeline: Successfully prescreened and facilitated over 150 municipal and state assistance applications (including SNAP and Cash Assistance) for Ozone Park families, drastically reducing application friction and rejection rates.

• Eldercare Administrative Support: Provided direct, 1-on-1 case management for 75+ seniors navigating complex Medicare appeals, logistical correspondence, and annual recertification pipelines.

• Civic Infrastructure Advocacy: Drafted and submitted structured neighborhood safety and sanitation proposals to Queens Community Board 9 and local representatives, utilizing public civic data to secure expedited municipal reviews.

• Regulatory Translation Program: Processed and translated over 50 dense municipal housing and zoning notices into accessible, plain-language summaries for local tenant groups.
